Bleu

Bleu

Once, by accident, a microalgae print turned from green to blue.

An homage to living colors.

Nature’s smart textiles taught a lesson about the beauty of the unexpected - turning waste into gold, tuning green into blue.

Studio Blond & Bieber likes to embrace the potential of the mistake, just like the old alchemists did. In collaboration with fashion designer Hien Le the two designers of Studio Blond & Bieber developed the conceptual installation 'bleu', which is based on the 'Algaemy' technology. It uses microalgae as a pigment for textile printing. Bleu - A type of ice-blue natural pigment turns from green to blue when being exposed to sunlight (UV lights sponsored by Jurlights NL).

'Bleu' celebrates the beauty of a dynamic color palette that changes over time when exposed to sunlight - an homage to 'living colors'.
